Sunday lunch with a former chef to the Royal Household
From a simple upbringing on a farm in Arkengarthdale in the Yorkshire Dales to the luxurious heights of living in royal palaces, Colin Alderson rose to become a highly esteemed royal chef. His lunchtime talk at the Cedar Court Hotel, Wakefield, held 60 Rotarians and their guests spellbound with a fascinating and humorous insight into life preparing food from picnics for a few to banquets for thousands of distinguished people.
The event is estimated to have raised over £400 for Dementia UK and will go to employing an additional Admiral Nurse attached to Wakefield Hospice.
Club president Neale Clark said: “Colin’s talk revealed not only what life is like for royal chefs and supporting staff but also their high degree of catering skill.”
President-elect Sheila Wainwright proposed a vote of thanks
